A square coffee table in bamboo painted off-white, with leather bindings and a clear glass top.
The table is distinguished by its architectural design, built around a sequence of horizontal and vertical lines. Set inward from the corners, the uprights support a network of intersecting rails at different levels, forming a composition of interlocking frames. The offset between the tabletop perimeter and the base lends rhythm to the design, revealing different perspectives as the viewpoint changes.
The glass top keeps the construction fully visible, highlighting the interplay between solid elements and open spaces. The off-white finish unifies the components, while the leather bindings accent the joints, bringing a handcrafted quality to the structure’s geometric precision.
The combination of bamboo, leather and glass recalls the designs of the American furniture maker McGuire.
Circa 1970–1980.
Dimensions: 83 × 83 cm; height 36.5 cm.
Signs of use and wear to the finish, two scratches and one missing leather binding. The missing binding does not compromise the table’s structural integrity, as its construction relies on a metal frame clad in bamboo. Please refer to the photographs.
