A distinctive side table dating from the 1920s, whose architectural construction recalls the expressionist vocabulary of the Amsterdam School.

Its composition of layered volumes, chamfered planes and stepped projections evokes the expressive language developed in the Netherlands during the 1920s, when furniture extended the formal explorations of contemporary architecture.

Entirely structured around the octagon, it combines a thick polygonal top with a central pedestal and a striking double-tiered base. A subtle geometric frieze punctuates the lower edge of the apron.

The almost monumental character of the base contrasts with the table’s compact proportions, giving it a particularly singular presence.

Solid wood structure with a stained plywood top.

In very good vintage condition, with a richly aged patina, light scratches, small chips and surface irregularities consistent with its age, all visible in the photographs. The structure is sound and sturdy. On a perfectly level floor, the table has a very slight wobble due to a minimal difference in level between the feet; this does not affect its solidity or everyday use.
