A silvered bronze floor lamp depicting a serpent rising from its base to coil around a frosted-glass bowl.
This luminaire is inspired by La Tentation, a model created by Edgar Brandt in the mid-1920s. Now regarded as one of the emblematic works of French Art Deco, the original design perfectly illustrates the period’s fascination with nature elevated through the craftsmanship of the decorative arts.
Through this composition, Brandt reinterpreted the biblical theme of temptation as a serpent protecting the light, transforming a light fixture into a narrative work.
This silvered bronze version, with its white glass bowl, gives the design a strikingly contemporary presence.
The floor lamp is distinguished by its substantial weight (25 kg), quality of execution and strong decorative presence. The serpent seems literally to support the light in a balance that is both powerful and refined, turning the lamp into a true sculpture. Whether lit or unlit, it is a statement piece capable of defining an Art Deco, eclectic or contemporary interior on its own.
