Large Modernist Aluminium Bud Vase

Reduced to a single line, this tall bud vase illustrates an approach to design in which simplicity becomes a quality in itself.

Made of satin-finished aluminium, it has an elongated silhouette whose subtly irregular curves gently disrupt its geometry. This almost imperceptible inflection animates the piece and gives it a sculptural presence that far exceeds its utilitarian function.

Anonymous in origin, it belongs to the modernist aesthetic of the 1970s and 1980s, when domestic objects moved towards a pared-back form inherited from minimalism. Devoid of ornament, it foregrounds material, light and proportion. Depending on the viewpoint, its satin surface reveals shifting nuances and reflections that reinforce its architectural character.

At 43 cm high, it sits naturally on the floor, a console or a pedestal, holding a single branch—or deliberately left empty as an autonomous sculpture.
