Distinctive swivel armchair in solid carved oak, likely dating from the early 20th century.
The chair features a wooden seat with rounded corners and a curved backrest extending into the armrests. The upper structure is supported by four turned balusters, while the central section of the backrest is adorned with a repeating geometric carved pattern, framed by vertical mouldings.
The seat rests on a substantial three-legged base, centred around a turned pedestal carved with stylised botanical motifs. The three solid legs, with their softly rounded ends, give the piece a particularly architectural silhouette.
Beneath the seat, an original-style ball-bearing mechanism allows the chair to rotate a full 360 degrees. Still in excellent working order, it provides smooth rotation and reflects the quality of the chair's construction.
Combining turned elements, carved decoration and an ingenious swivel mechanism, this armchair reflects an approach to furniture design that is both functional and decorative, characteristic of early 20th-century seating.
Good vintage condition, showing signs of age and use, including scratches, marks, surface wear and evidence of earlier restorations. The swivel mechanism remains fully functional. Please refer to the detailed photographs.
