Rare Modernist Art Deco Armchair, France, circa 1930
An early French architectural piece: its rectangular armrest structure creates a rigorous, balanced silhouette characteristic of French interwar modernism.
This armchair is distinguished by the purity of its geometric construction and the balance of its proportions. Upholstered in deep olive-green velvet, it offers a colour that works particularly well with the warmth of the wood, its subtle variations revealing the light.
Comfortable and visually compelling, it will fit equally well in an Art Deco interior or a contemporary setting.
A few small, stabilised veneer chips are present on the armrests, along with a minor snag to the side of the backrest. These do not affect its stability or use; please see photographs.
