Set of Six “Havana” Chairs by GESSEF / Consorzio Sedie Friuli, Italy
An elegant set of six Italian chairs produced by GESSEF (Consorzio Sedie Friuli), an important association of manufacturers in the Friuli region—one of Italy’s principal centres of chair production during the 1960s and 1970s.
These chairs illustrate the meeting point between the refinement of Italian design and the Scandinavian influence that shaped part of the period’s production. Their wooden frames, with delicately tapered sections, appear almost suspended, while the woven cane seats bring warmth, comfort and authenticity.
Their light silhouettes make them equally at home in a contemporary interior or a more vintage or modernist decorative scheme.
The wooden frames have been fully restored. The cane seats are in good condition, with no broken strands.
