Produced by Moderntube in the 1950s–1960s, the Marcom chair perfectly illustrates the renewal of post-war design.
Its design combines an especially lightweight chrome-steel base with a bent plywood structure upholstered in anthracite-grey/blue wool fabric. The backrest, suspended by an elegant padded cylindrical band, is the model’s distinctive signature and gives it a singular graphic presence.
Somewhere between a conference chair and a domestic seat, the Marcom is appealing for the balance of its proportions and the quality of its materials. Its restrained, timeless aesthetic allows it to sit equally well in a modernist or contemporary interior.
