A rectangular silver-plated box by Maison Plasait, with the restrained, geometric lines characteristic of modernist Art Deco.
Its flat, hinged lid features a long projecting horizontal grip with rounded ends along the front edge. This detail adds subtle relief to the purity of the form. The box and lid are lined with brown leather, whose warm tone contrasts with the silver-plated exterior.
Probably originally intended as a cigarette box, it can now hold small personal items on a desk or console table.
Marked “PLASAIT ORFÈVRE” and bearing stamps on the underside.
France, circa 1930.
Dimensions: length 21.5 cm × width 14.5 cm × height 5 cm.
Good overall condition, with patina and surface scratches to the silver plating, as well as some marks to the leather lining.
