To the left, a natural rock arch and a small boat on the horizon complete this maritime scene, most likely inspired by the Far East.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe simplified, incised forms are rendered in flat areas of colour, within a restrained palette combining deep reds, dark greens, greys and golden-beige tones. The sharply defined waves, stylised clouds and emphasis on silhouettes recall Art Deco illustration, Japonism and the modernist decorative arts of the interwar period.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe panel is presented in a wide period moulded wood frame, patinated in beige and gold tones.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe surface displays an overall patina, fine scratches, several small marks and occasional areas of wear to the painted finish. The frame also bears signs of age and use.
